What was your soul worth? What on earth could mean so much to you that you made the choice to trust a fae? All it took was temptation and a handshake, and after meeting the fae, every human, including you, regrets bitterly and deeply. So what do you do now? How can you save yourself from torment in the clutches of a fae? And is there any part of you worth saving?

On the other hand, what made the fae pursue that human? What was so appealing and alluring about that specific human that they just had to own it? And how on earth did the soul end up Unclaimed and therefore up for auction at The Grimm Auction?

“The Grimm Auction” is a larp about the faes’ game for human souls. About pride and shame, and it’s all a cruel and childish game to secure power and wealth in Underworld. The fae want to own the valuable souls, and humans try to create the 'best' life for themselves in this new world they are going to be part of.

At Autumn Solstice, the strongest and most influential fae of The Summer Court, The Winter Court and Court of the Gray gather to witness the transfer of power from summer to winter. But also, at this event the prestigious fae The Grim brings all the harvested and unclaimed humans. And when The Grim arrives then the auction can begin!

Meet the Organizers

Nikoline Krogh Gilså

"As an experienced LARP organizer, I will be in charge of communication before the LARP. During the event I will be along the walls, fixing stuff behind the scenes, and also snapping photos of your play from the shadows."

Gabriel Lorenz

"As a hardened larp organizer, I will be in charge of an atmoshepric larp location. During the event I will be in the organizer-room and on the floor, both answering questions and making sure certain mechanichs are working as intended."

Bjørn-Morten Gundersen

"This is a dream come true for me. I can't wait to see you bring The Grimm Auction to life.
During the larp I will be co-responsible for running the game and briefings, and keeping track of the lore. You can always ask me a question about characters and lore, while I am also snapping photos of the larp."

The Crew

Will be released at a later moment.

What kind of larp can I expect?

We want a larp filled with personal stories in an overarching narrative where everyone fits in and everyone can influence parts of the story. There will be heartbreak and hope, intrigue and drama, pettiness and self-sacrifice. It will be a scenario where emotions and ambitions take center-stage, and where the want of dreams and hopes is set against control and opportunity.

The larp is based on a vision of portraying humans' powerless encounter with the terrible fae.

The lore is home-brewed and therefore no knowledge of either Nordic or Celtic folklore is necessary, but you will find small easter-eggs.

"The Grimm Auction" is a larp where losing is cool, and the sweetness of victory is quickly replaced by the bitter taste of defeat. It's a larp for players who want to build a great story together, and therefore not a larp you should go to if you want to win.

In other words, you're all going to lose, but the road to it will be filled with successes and triumphs, big and small.

The humans are at the center of attention for the larp, and large parts of agency are built into the design to secure that as a human you do not experience having to be a slave for two days.

Humans are very often used to solve fae-conflicts.

You will be the oppressed.

As a human, you will experience being objectified* and are expected to up-play the fae, by obeying some commands.

The faes have many quarrells and conflicts, and you will dive into the experience of being a playful, cruel and sadistic creature that has little  to none understanding of emotions and boundaries.

Fae use humans to solve their political or personal interests.

You will be the oppressor.

As a fae, you are expected to objectify* and bully, and are meant to feel ugly on the inside while playing such.

*Objectifying will be done using a necklace-mechanic, to avoid offgame shaming.
The necklaces the humans will wear reflects the soul's value, since the fae couldn't care less how people look. It's the soul value that matters.

There will be workshops to enhance safety and manage expectations

To truly unlock an enjoyable and safe experience for all players, we will workshop the techniques used in this larp, before we go ingame.

The workshops involve:

  • Practicing slow-escalation and setting boundaries.
  • Training the technique of gripping each other physically.
  • Reminder that the necklaces are the only way we objectify.
  • Using calibration to manage expectations for play.

- An overview of the 45 characters -

- Your role (2-3 pages) -

Music

There will be music at this larp.

The sound level we're going for is ambience.

But it will have a certain volume, so that everyone can hear it when we dance.

If you're sensitive to sound, our best answer is that the music will be for limited periods, not all the time - and far from concert level.

Accommodation
Sleeping arrangements will for most be in two big rooms (27 and 18 beds)

We will have smaller rooms for sleeping, for a limited amount of players with special needs.

Please make us aware of your needs in your registration.

You need to bring your own sheets, pillow and duvet/sleeping bag.

Atmospheric photos from previous runs

Some of these photos showcase one of the techniques we use to show dominance:
"The Fae Grip".
It also shows how a fae gripping a necklace can both be used to show aggression or curiosity.
